Handcarved Utensils

My spoons are hand carved from natural hardwoods and are decorated by an ancient Swedish Viking technique called kohlrosing. Similar to scrimshaw, kohlrosing is traditionally accomplished by incising thin, decorative lines and patterns into wood and filling them in with a dark powder, such as coal. Instead I use benign, food grade powders like fine coffee grounds, or spices like cinnamon or paprika, for a variety of colors and smells, then I finish them with coconut oil to preserve the wood. My spoons are customizable by special request; I can add monograms, or special sigils.
